The Wedding of Baharan and Afshin was a very special one for me. It was the very first wedding video completed under my own new business brand. I have filmed many weddings before this for other companies but this one marks the start of a new journey for me and Gareth Croft Wedding Films.
Do you remember the scorchio summer of 2018? Where there was no rain for about 3 months and the UK had a shortage of BBQ charcoal and fizzy drinks? Well Baharan and Afshins wedding took place right in the middle of this.
The wedding took place in Bristol but the couple were actually from London way. Baharans sister had actually organised the whole thing from the locations to the decorations. It was a lovely demonstration of family love and when I joined the family the day before the wedding to video the setup it was clear that this family was very close and that everyone was chipping in to create the best day ever!
The morning preparations took place in Backwell House near Bristol. A lovely country house that offered lots of space for Baharan and her family. The staff their were amazing, even allowing us to take over parts of the hotel to accommodate more members of the family who needed space to get dressed.
The ceremony was held in Bristol city centre and was a mix of both Iranian and christian traditions. It was lovely to see all the guests enjoying the stories that were being told and all of the little page boys and flower girls taking a leading role of course at the front of the congregation.
The Reception was held in Blaise Castle on the outskirts of Bristol in the Dairy garden and it was nothing like i’d quite seen before! The stunning weather meant that the whole thing was outdoors. From the ice cream machines to the cutting of the cake! This was one giant party. It was dancing from lunchtime until the evening. These guys didn’t stop! There was live music, proper cocktail bar staff and a gorgeous Iranian buffet. This really was just a massive party and was a long way from the traditional receptions i’m used to.
What a fantastic was to start my own business. I wish Baharan and Afshin many happy years together and look forward to more outdoor weddings! They are so cool! You can see the highlight film from this wedding on our wedding video sample page.
